Chilhowee Trail System

30 minutes from the Ocoee River. The Chilhowee trail system is about 25 miles of biking and hiking trails. The elevation changes from 600 to 2,000 feet making it a challenge for both hikers and bikers. The trail offers scenic beauty and a chance to see wildlife in the area. You’ll also get to see some interesting rock formations and pretty waterfalls on your bicycle ride through the forest.

Thunder Rock Express (Part of the Tanasi Trail Network)

Thunder Rock Express lies in the Cherokee National Forest, and is a fast bike ride down the mountain. Most people ride this trail for the descent. This is a fun but a moderate to challenging single track trail. The trail is located where the Ocoee Whitewater Center stood, before it burned down, on the left side of the road.

Benton MacKaye Trail

Though mostly hiking trails, Benton MacKaye trails are open to bicycles. Biking along the ridge to approach the summit of Buck Bald, is the easiest route. Some areas have switchbacks and rock walls with sheer cliffs, so ride with caution especially downhill. If you love a thrill this one is a good bet. There are many different trails to choose from that you’re sure to find one you’ll love.

Brush Creek Mountain Bike Trail

With beautiful views of the Ocoee River and lakes in the Cherokee National Forest, this is a fun out and back bike trail that is a fairly easy ride. Even kids will be able to ride this trail. Bridges can get slippery, so watch for those on this singletrack, hard packed dirt trail with loose gravel in some places. It’s a great hiking trail, too, so watch for people on foot as you ride.

Old Copper Trail Road

The Ocoee River runs beside this biking trail and it is an easy to moderate bike ride. It’s the least traveled of the trails in the area, so you may not encounter many people. If it’s solitude you crave, this might be the trail for you. Since the trail parallels the Ocoee River, you could see people having fun white water rafting.

Book your trip with Carolina Ocoee to see what all the fun is about!
